Effective September 1, 1999, the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC) is responsible for administering motor vehicle
business licenses and enforcing automotive regulations under the Alberta Fair Trading Act. AMVIC's mandate is to protect
Alberta consumers from unfair business practices and work toward building trust and confidence in the motor vehicle industry.
AMVIC is a non-profit organization that will be funded entirely by the motor vehicle industry. It is believed that industry self-management, through AMVIC, will provide a level playing field and fair marketplace for businesses and consumers alike. Representation on the council consists of recreation vehicle dealers, the Alberta Government, franchised dealers and consumer groups. For more information on AMVIC call Ph. 466-1140, toll free 1-877-313-3822 or visit the website at www.amvic.org.
