The proceeds of the Motor Show event are what fuels the EMDA Automotive Awards Foundation at NAIT.
This is a scholarship fund that young apprentices can apply for to help them financially as they
are going through the NAIT Automotive Program.
It is a well known fact that it is the most
financially demanding time in their careers. With the success of the 2002 Motor Show the EMDA
was able to distribute Awards to 79 recipients in the amounts of $1000 to $2500.
This represented the largest number of awards given since this program was put into place in 1997.
A portion of every ticket sold goes right back into the community.
We are looking forward to expanding this program with our involvement in the "Get Into Gear"
initiative. This will be a joint effort with Careers The Next Generation organization involving high
school students in a registered apprenticeship program.
The Motor Show is the driving force to our
efforts in creating opportunities in our industry here in Edmonton.
